Ever since founder and entrepreneur Graeme Wise established The Body Shop in Australia, his driving philosophy has been to humanise business, combining economic success with positive social change.
The idea for Water Source was born while Graeme was working with remote communities in Timor Leste. He began developing technology that could solve the challenges these communities faced in accessing a reliable source of clean drinking water.
Early versions of Water Source's water purification technology were trialed in remote communities in Dingee and Charleville in Australia, and in Timor Leste. Through the Wise Foundation, Graeme established a social enterprise with the local Timor community to bottle water treated with this technology, providing a reliable source of drinking water and an income stream for local entrepreneurs.
A decade on from Timor Leste, Water Source has developed the Brolga, a smart micro water treatment plant with its own 'brain', that allows the Brolga to overcome many of the issues encountered in the field when supplying safe drinking water to remote communities.
The Brolga has gone through a number of design iterations, and now the product is undergoing final robustness testing in-field, ready for in-market pilots with key partners. This will be the next step in our pathway towards global launch, realising Graeme's vision to provide a continuous supply of safe drinking water no matter where in the world you are.
Alongside the development of Brolga has been the development of our proprietory IoT infrastructure, which utlises the AWS cloud to drive the Brolga to anticipate and solve many common in-filed operating issues, thereby minimising the need for human intervention. ELEIoT is integral to the operations of the Brolga, but we are also undergoing trials to utilise the power of ELEIoT Gateway as a stand-alone product, monitoring and controling other process systems.
